Executive Summary
In 2025, READO solidified its position as a leading Somali NGO, delivering lifesaving and resiliencebuilding interventions across Southwest State and beyond. Through a multi-sectoral approach—spanning Food Security & Livelihoods (FSL), Sustainable Agriculture, Health and Nutrition, WASH, Protection, and Education—READO provided measurable support to tens of thousands.
A defining shift this year was the integration of Anticipatory Action (AA) into our core strategy. By leveraging early warning systems and proactive disaster mitigation, READO moved beyond reactive aid to protect livelihoods before shocks occurred—a critical priority for the global donor community. Our work remained aligned with national priorities, focusing on drought response, health system strengthening, and durable solutions for displaced populations, all supported by rigorous MEAL systems and expanded safeguarding mechanisms.
READO implemented a diverse portfolio in 2025 funded by ECHO, SHF, GAVI, NRC, ADRA/European Union (e-WINS), PLAN International, IGAD, KOICA/IOM, and UNDP. Key achievements include:
- Food Security & Agriculture: Delivered emergency FSL assistance in Qansaxdheere, Dinsoor, and Hudur, while promoting climate-smart agricultural techniques to boost local food production and community self-reliance.
- Health & Nutrition: Strengthened immunization and outreach through the GAVI REACH initiative.
- Economic Empowerment: Empowered women entrepreneurs via the EU-funded e-WINS programme and conducted large-scale business skills training under UNDP.
- Governance & Protection: Facilitated community-based dispute resolution via NRC’s HARBS program and prioritized youth participation through sports-based social cohesion initiatives
