The Horn of Africa is grappling with a convergence of conflicts, economic shocks and increasingly severe and frequent climate shocks, such as drought and flooding. These challenges are exacerbating poverty and driving millions of people into displacement, acute food insecurity and malnutrition. In 2024, the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF), the Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund (EHF) and the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) enabled emergency relief for millions including displaced individuals and host communities across the Horn of Africa through allocations totaling $142.7 million. Since 2020, the Funds have provided over $533 million in grants to support the region with life-saving assistance.
