KEY MESSAGES
• This week there were 589 new arrivals through Baidoa checkpoints and Zero Exits. The number of arrivals reported this week were lower than the numbers recorded last week, but current figures still remain high. The key driving factors for displacements in to Baidoa this week were as usual prolonged drought and increasing insecurity at the villages of origin.
• As for why IDPs were entering Baidoa this week, all the new entries cited either insecurity (63%), lack of food (24%) or access to Health (13%) a the key driving factors for displacement into the IDP sites in Baidoa.
• As reported in this week, (64%) of those entering came from the district of Hudur, (16%) from Baidoa district, (15%)from Baardheere district, (4%) from Qansax Dheere district, and (1%) from Jilib district. They were heading to the IDP sites of Geele (32%), Xasan Muumin (21%),Abal (18%), Bakar Yarey (15%), Bakol Gaab (11%) and Ceelbay 3 (3%) in Baidoa.
