Historical Cooperation for Somalia

Turkish Red Crescent, which continues humanitarian aid activities towards famine and drought stroke Somalia, also started a long-term project. A Memorandum of Understanding between Turkish Red Crescent and Somalia Red Crescent, regarding a permanent welfare of the region, was signed in Ankara.

Ahmet Lütfi Akar, President of Turkish Red Crescent and Dr. Ahmed M. Hassan, President of Somalia Red Crescent gave messages of friendship and brotherhood between two nations during the signing ceremony. Somalia Red Crescent delegation also attended the meeting of Executive Committee.

Permanent Projects will be conducted

After pointing out that Somalian and Turkish communities share a togetherness of history, religion and humanity, President Akar said that “We are going to hasten the permanent welfare provider projects for the Somalia’s needed people. We are going to work on capacity development of Somalia Red Crescent. We believe that our Government and other non-governmental organizations will support our efforts. We are talking on behalf of our helpful nation. We are going to bring Somalia to good days with the help of Somalia Red Crescent.

Dr. Ahmed M. Hassan, President of the Somalia Red Crescent, said that “We are lucky to have Turkish Red Crescent as a part of solution to the problems in Somalia. We hope the support will continue the same.
