GREDO: Quarterly Program Bulletin Quarter-2 (April-June 2025)

Attachments

Somalia is facing a deepening humanitarian crisis fueled by ongoing conflict, climate shocks, and economic hardship. Over one-third of the population is experiencing acute food insecurity, with many in emergency levels (IPC Phase 4), and malnutrition among children remains critically high. Conflict-related displacement and recurrent droughts continue to push vulnerable communities into deeper need.

Despite the rising needs, humanitarian funding has dropped significantly. As highlighted in the July 2025 “Cost of Inaction” report, aid agencies have been forced to scale down their response by 72%, reaching fewer than half of the people originally targeted. Essential services including nutrition support, health care, and water supply, are being cut, putting thousands at risk.

Despite the growing humanitarian needs and the shrinking resources and fund cuts, GREDO has demonstrated resilience and commitment in its humanitarian response. In quarter two of 2025 alone, GREDO reached approximately 160,000 people across multiple sectors. These included Health and Nutrition services, WASH interventions, FSL and Resilience programs, Governance and Peace-building initiatives, Education support, and Protection services. These achievements underscore the impact of localized, community-driven humanitarian action in the face of immense operational challenges.
