GREDO: Annual Report 2024

Attachments

As we reflect on 2024, I am proud to present this Annual Report that encapsulates the journey, accomplishments, and challenges of GREDO over the past year. Despite the continued fragility of Somalia’s humanitarian landscape marked by climate shocks, displacement, conflict, and chronic poverty, we were able to extend lifesaving and resilience-building services to over 1.6 million people across Southwest, Jubaland, and Galmudug States.

This year’s humanitarian funding landscape remained strained. Somalia’s Humanitarian Needs Response Plan was only 47% funded, and yet, thanks to the dedication of our frontline teams and support units, GREDO successfully implemented impactful, community-driven programs. From education and protection to food security and climate advocacy, our work was possible because of our collective commitment to our communities.

I extend my deepest appreciation to all who made this possible: our frontline staff who braved remote, hard-to-reach areas; the communities we serve who continue to demonstrate resilience and hope; local authorities and traditional leaders who facilitate our access and engagement; the governments of Southwest, Jubaland, and Galmudug; and the Federal Government of Somalia. I also thank our donors, international and local partners, networks, and consortiums whose collaboration has amplified our reach and impact.

As we look toward 2025, we remain committed to deepening our work in hard-to-reach and underserved areas. Our call remains urgent, let us invest in people-centered, localized approaches that put communities at the center of response and recovery. Together, let’s build a resilient, dignified future for all.
