GREDO: Annual Report 2022

Attachments

The year 2022 brought about significant changes for the Gargaar Relief and Development Organization (GREDO), Somalia, which will have a lasting impact in the years to come. GREDO has made considerable progress towards achieving its Organizational Strategy Plan for 2022-2025. The Annual Report 2022 highlights the organization's achievements, impact on the community, and financial accountability for the year. GREDO has been dedicated to empowering impoverished and marginalized individuals, protecting their rights, and promoting their development for over 30 years.

The report reflects on the progress, challenges, and issues faced in implementing projects at all levels, with support from various themes and departments. Despite individual and collective changes, GREDO remains committed to doing more with its historical budget, implementing health & nutrition, education, protection, WASH, FSL and resilience and emergency-related projects covering all thematic areas outlined in the Strategy Plan. Mr. Alinur Ali Aden, Executive Director of GREDO, presents the report as a culmination of extensive interactions, reviews, and reflections.

Just in the year 2022, a total of 1,049 children passed away while in nutrition centers, and there are likely many more who didn't have access to these centers. Additionally, it is estimated that approximately 1.8 million children under the age of five will suffer from acute malnutrition until mid-2023, with over 513,000 of them expected to be severely malnourished in Somalia, GREDO strives to contribute to the collective Humanitarian needs response.

I would like to express our gratitude to the regional state governments of SWS,
Jubbaland and Galmudug and Federal Governments of Somalia (FGS), Development Partners, Networks, Community Organizations, and communities for their consistent support. GREDO is deeply appreciative of our hardworking employees for their dedication, generosity, and unwavering support. I am also thankful to the visionary board and advisory committee for their tireless guidance and encouragement.

We hope that this Annual Report will provide valuable insights into GREDO's interventions contributing to the SDG 2030 agendas and the prosperity and happiness of Somalia. We are committed to increasing our visibility, impact, and accountability in the coming year. We welcome all feedback, comments, and critiques as they inspire us to be a more responsible National NGO.
