The Vocational Training School was built with support from the Danish Government at a cost of US$150,000. It has eight classrooms and an administration block and will provide vocational training to over 360 students at any one time. The Somali Government will manage it. The opening ceremony was attended by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Ambassador Mahamat Saleh Annadif, the Special Representative of the African Union Commission Chairperson. The Ambassador, who thanked the Federal Government for its cooperation and support to AMISOM, noted that AMISOM in addition to its military and police elements also had “a dynamic civilian component that is involved in improving the lives of the people of Somalia”. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who thanked AMISOM for its efforts in Somalia, called on Somali youth “to take up the opportunity of acquiring education”.
