A. HIGHLIGHTS

• Tropical Cyclone Warning is current for Western Province.

• Tropical Cyclone Warning Number 17 issued by the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service as of 1:30AM, Thursday 08 th April 2026.

• Severe Tropical Cyclone Maila (Category 4) is located approximately 85 kilometers southwest of Ranogga, Western Province.

• 3 people reported missing in Waghena, Choiseul Province.

• 4 people reported missing in in Marovo, Western Province.

• The United Nations Charter (UN Charter) has been activated by the NEOC to provide access to satellitederived information and products for Initial Situation Overview (ISO).

• The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) remains on Full-On Activation to monitor the weather situation, receive impact reports, provide the public with safety messages and coordinate national and provincial response efforts.

• Choiseul, Isabel, Western, and Guadalcanal Provincial Emergency Operation Centres (PEOCs) remain activated to support coordination and forward response planning.

• The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have activated operation centres in Choiseul and Western Provinces to support Provincial Disaster Committees (PDCs) and Provincial Disaster Operations Committees (P-DOCs) to ensure safety and well-being of the public.

• The public is advised to take all safety measures when going about daily activities as cyclone warnings remain enforced in the country.
