  • WFP joined other UN agencies, Government and Development partners to launch the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2025-2030) which is aligned to the development aspiration of Sierra Leone. WFP used the exhibition at the launch to showcase its activities in saving lives and changing lives.
  • WFP received an in-kind donation of over 2,400 tons of rice from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of the Republic of Korea. This donation for the school feeding programme will feed 106,000 school children in 500 schools across Sierra Leone throughout the next academic year.
  • To ensure that children receive nutritious meals during the third term of the school year, WFP provided US$ 43,452 to 207 schools across five districts, enabling them to purchase fresh vegetables from smallholder farmers, majority of whom are women.
  • To enable the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) to better prepare for and respond to emergencies, WFP trained 120 volunteers on the use of the beneficiary registration tool MIRA (Multi-Sector Initial Rapid Assessment).
  • WFP, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), supported 138 farmer-based organizations in Kenema, Pujehun, Moyamba, Tonkolili, Kambia, Koinadugu, and Falaba districts with 48.7 metric tons of straight fertilizers (Triple super phosphate, Muriate of potash, and Urea) as recommended by the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI) based on soil studies conducted in 2023. This initiative is expected to boost rice yield and improve soil fertility in WFP supported districts.
  • WFP collaborated with SLARI to train 40 farmer groups and 13 MAFS extension workers on improved agronomic practices for Orange-Flesh Sweet Potato (OFSP) cultivation in Bonthe district. The farmer groups will grow OFSP and sell to supported schools.
  • To promote diet diversity among women and children aged 6-23 months, WFP supported sub-national Ministry of Health partners to enhance the cooking skills of 150 Mother Support Groups and communities at large through food demonstrations.
