On 28 August, floods and landslides caused by heavy rainfall were reported across Freetown Capital City (north-west Sierra Leone), resulting in casualties.

According to national authorities and media, at least six people have died, after a landslide occurred in Looking Town Settlement, on the outskirts of Freetown. A number of people have been displaced in Freetown, as roads and houses were damaged by floodwaters.

Moderate to locally heavy rainfall is forecast on 30 August - 1 September over most of Sierra Leone, including Freetown.
