This revised Emergency Appeal seeks a total of some 4.6 million Swiss francs to enable the IFRC to support the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society (SLRCS) to deliver assistance and support to some 26,000 people (6,000 directly and 20,000 indirectly) for a total of 18 months. With the shift in focus of the planned activities from shelter to disaster risk reduction and community resilience, the operation has been extended from 10 to 18 months. More specifically, the revised plan will focus on the following: livelihoods, health, water, sanitation and hygiene, disaster risk reduction/community resilience, and National Society capacity strengthening and institutional preparedness. The planned response reflects the current situation and information available at this time of the evolving operation, and will be adjusted based on further developments and more detailed assessments.
