Serbia fully engaged in proving housing to refugees

Belgrade, 27 April 2015 – First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic spoke today with Vice Governor of the Council of Europe Development Bank Mikolaj Dowgielewicz about current cooperation between Serbia and this bank, with a special emphasis on the implementation of the Regional programme for providing housing to refugees.

Dacic stressed that Serbia attaches great importance to the implementation of this programme, which is funded by the said bank, because that is important for the care for refugees, but also for the process of reconciliation in the region.

He said that that is why the Ministry will continue to be fully engaged on this matter, within the scope of its competences.

Also, Dacic thanked Dowgielewicz for the financial assistance provided by the bank to Serbia for the clean-up of consequencies of last year’s floods.

Dowgielewicz said that cooperation to date with the authorities in Serbia has been good and voiced hope that this trend will continue.

He pointed to the great importance of keeping the attention of the world public on the issue of providing housing for refugees in the region, given that the implementation of this programme is directly related to the contribution of donor countries.
