Serbia - Floods (ECHO, EU Delegation, Media)
■The floods following the heavy rain in the past days have inundated towns and villages, authorities are preparing for more high water that could last for several more days.
■Flood alerts are still in place in many areas of Serbia. Water levels on the River Sava are expected to peak later, threatening the country's biggest power plant, which supplies electricity to the capital and a third of the country.
■Assistance is being provided by Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia and the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia.
■An UCP team is deployed over the weekend coordinating the help efforts provided through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism which has been activated upon the request of Serbia.
