PRISTINA, 2 February 2000 -- The
Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) will officially
open a field office in Vushtrri/Vucitrn on Friday 4 February 2000, bringing
the total number of regional centres and field offices in Kosovo to 15.
The Vushtrri/Vucitrn field office has
been operational since late last year, with the main emphasis on democratization
and human rights. As in other field offices, election and registration
officers will follow shortly. The head of the Vushtrri/Vuctitrn field office
is Tim Boucher from United Kingdom.
The OSCE plans to open 21 offices throughout Kosovo. About 150 international and 400 local OSCE staff are now based in the field.
