No audit required for the annual reports of NGOs for Year 2000

UNMIK/PR/578
PRISTINA - On 30 April 2001, UNMIK issued Administrative Direction 2001/03 which suspends the audit requirement for local and international NGOs in Kosovo with Public Benefit Status.

UNMIK requires international NGOs with income or expenditures greater than DM 250,000 and local NGOs with income or expenditures greater than DM 100,000 to have an independent auditor certify their financial statements for their annual reports. The new Administrative Direction suspends the audit requirement for annual reports for the year 2000 only.

The local and international NGOs with Public Benefit Status are reminded of the requirement to submit an annual report for the year 2000. The submission deadline was amended by Administrative Direction 2001/02 and set as 30 April 2001. NGOs with Public Benefit Status who fail to submit an annual report on time risk having the benefits of their Public Benefit Status suspended. Further, if they fail to submit an annual report 30 days after having been notified of a suspension, their Public Benefit Status will be revoked.

The annual reports must be sent to the NGO Liaison and Registration Unit, located at the Urata building in Dardania, across the street from the former Fazita factory. The annual report forms are available at the same location, at UNMIK NGO liaison offices at UNMIK regional offices and OSCE NGO Resource Centers.
