PRISTINA-On Sunday evening, 12 March, the Kosovo Electric Company will shut down Unit 1 of the Kosovo B power plant for repairs.
This unit had been the major producer of electrical power in Kosovo over the past several months, generating up to 250 megawatts. Kosovo B's second unit was damaged by fire in January and is still under repair.
In the meantime, one unit of Kosovo A is to be restarted, generating 120 to 130 MW of power. And agreements have been reached with neighbouring power companies to increase electricity exchanges through the usual regional cooperation network.
This should ensure sufficient electricity until the restart of Kosovo B Unit 1, expected later this week.
The regime of power restrictions will be announced by radio and by UNMIK.
