Pristina_(dpa) _ The Kosovo assembly is to elect the new government of Serbia's breakaway province on Friday, Kosovo prime minister designate Agim Ceku said Wednesday.
The Kosovo ruling coalition partners, the League for a Democratic Kosovo and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK),agreed earlier Wednesday on the ministers who will form the new government.
Former Kosovo prime minister Bajram Kosumi resigned last week, under pressure from his own party, the AAK.
A former commander of the Kosovo guerrilla army UCK, Ceku was quickly nominated as his successor.
Kosovo must now elect its new government at a crucial time, as the second round of talks between Belgrade and Pristina on the future status of the province, administered by the United Nations since 1999, is due on March 17. dpa fa bb mp
