FRY Forces Return
Yesterday, at 6 30 a.m. the FRY forces started their return into the designated 5km by 5km area on the border of southern Serbia and the FYROM. The entry of the FRY forces was in accordance with the agreed conditions and proceeded without incident. In the afternoon, the movement of the FRY forces was stopped one kilometre from the administrative boundary with Kosovo. The activity of the FRY forces were carefully monitored by the presence of KFOR liaison teams who maintained communication with the FRY commanders.
Incidents During the Past 24 Hours
Multinational Brigade North
Unrest in Mitrovice / Mitrovica
Yesterday morning, KFOR French Infantry Mechanized soldiers secured the UNMIK police station in North Mitrovice / Mitrovica against a crowd of some 100 Kosovo Serbs. KFOR Multinational Brigade North troops then continued to support UNMIK Police operations in the area during the morning. The KFOR Multinational Brigade North soldiers secured houses of UNMIK policemen to prevent any possible attacks. Later in the morning, a KFOR Multinational Brigade North patrol acted to prevent an assault on a Kosovar Albanian journalist, who was evacuated to the KFOR Moroccan hospital. There were no KFOR injuries during the unrest.
Multinational Brigade Centre
Ordnance Found
Yesterday evening, a KFOR Multinational Brigade Centre patrol searched a flat in Kopiliq / Oblic. They discovered three hand grenades and some ammunition. KFOR Explosive Ordnance experts removed the grenades for future destruction along with the ammunition.
Man Detained
Earlier this morning, a KFOR Multinational Brigade Centre check point stopped a vehicle in the vicinity of Sllatine / Velika Slatina. The man was detained as a suspected member of an ethnic Albanian armed group and handed across to UNMIK police.
Multinational Brigade East
Car Stopped; Men Detained
This morning, a KFOR Task Force Falcon patrol detained four men at a check point at Miresh / Dobrcane. This was as a result of two hand grenades being found in their vehicle.
Multinational Brigade South
Pistol Confiscated
Yesterday morning, a KFOR Multinational Brigade South patrol stopped and searched a car in Prizren. They discovered an automatic pistol with ammunition in the possession of the driver. The man was detained and the weapon confiscated.
Multinational Brigade West
Car Stopped; Weapon Found
Yesterday afternoon, a KFOR Task Force Falco patrol stopped a car in the area of Babaj Bax. They discovered an automatic rifle, a full ammunition magazine and some 60 other rounds of ammunition. The weapon and the ammunition were confiscated and the man handed over to UNMIK Police.
Shooter Arrested
Early yesterday evening a KFOR Task Force Sauro patrol assisted UNMIK Police in the arrest of an armed man near Decane / Decani. The man had been observed to have fired at another man, who was later evacuated to hospital in Peja / Pec. The house of the arrested man was later searched where one round of ammunition was found.
