KOSOVO REFUGEE CRISIS - With reports of more than 6,000 Kosovar Albanians fleeing the Yugoslav Army across the border into Albania, IRC is sending Richard Wagner, Emergency Coordinator in Kosovo, to assess the situation and to plan IRC's response. He will be accompanied by two professional Kosovar staff, Luan Berisha and Isa Shabani. There are reports of extreme suffering and hardship as refugees flee over treacherous mountains and hide overnight in the surrounding forests as they attempt to reach Albania. It is estimated that tens of thousands of refugees are moving towards Albania and there are fears that this latest action by Slobodan Milosovec risks expanding the conflict into Albania and other nearby Balkan countries.
