Improving rights of Roma and other communities in Serbia

Belgrade, Jan 16, 2006 - Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today at a meeting with a delegation of the Roma National Council that the Serbian government is oriented towards improvement of rights of Roma people, as well as all other communities in Serbia.

At the meeting devoted to further improvement of position of Roma national minority in Serbia, Kostunica said that integration of this national minority into social life of the country is of high importance.

Another topic discussed at the meeting was implementation of projects and programmes within the "Decade of Roma Inclusion" in the sectors of education, health care, employment and housing.

The delegation of the Roma National Council at the meeting with the Prime Minister consisted of Council Chairman Vitomir Mihajlovic and Head of the Executive Board Koka Ljuan.
