Obrenovac, 19 May 2014 – Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic stated today in Obrenovac that the death toll in this town so far stands at 13, and pointed out that at this moment it is difficult to speak about the damage caused by floods, but that according to rough estimates it amounts to several hundred million Euros.
During his visit to Obrenovac, Vucic underlined that he expects help from foreign governments in flood relief, and added that Serbia needs medicines, food, especially food for babies, and construction material.
The Prime Minister said that our country will need assistance from abroad since many roads and bridges will need to be built and infrastructure rehabilitated, which will not be easy.
He thanked the Russian Federation, Slovenia, European Commission, Germany, Turkey, Macedonia, Montenegro, Hungary, Romania and all other countries of Europe for their help.
Vucic expressed hope that the worst has passed but that is yet to be seen within the next five days.
According to the Prime Minister, Serbia did a great job when it comes to the protection of thermal power plants and voiced hope that it will manage to fully protect its power facilities.
