CWS Hotline - Week of 31/01/2000: Relief efforts continue in Kosovo

KOSOVO - Electricity supply and delivery in Kosovo continues to be problematic, with the area relying on power from Macedonia, Albania, and Serbia. Travel within Kosovo remains reasonably safe for both locals and internationals, although road conditions have continued to deteriorate as temperatures drop to -20 degrees Celsius. Despite the uncomfortable working conditions, some 800 pre-fabricated homes and 490 roofs have been constructed, and more than 130 wells have been cleaned. As part of the Action by Churches Together (ACT) consortium, CWS continues to support these and other recovery efforts in Kosovo.
