Operational Updates
• Strengthening Resilience and Livelihoods: the Salouma project achieved key milestones by validating the business model for the Post Harvest Loss Reduction Strategy and the Gender Road Map.
Training was provided to 26 government and cooperating partners on gender mainstreaming, and beneficiaries were trained on Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) for the upcoming agricultural season. In partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, this project aims to create, sustain, and improve job opportunities for 75,724 young people in Senegal by addressing market access barriers in six regions.
• A monitoring mission was conducted across the 5 regions (Kolda, Tambacounda, Kaffrine, Kaolack and Fatick) where the GCF (Green Climate Fund) project has been implemented. This mission aimed at monitoring project impacts ahead of its phase-out and also at gathering data and capitalize with lessons learned.
• Nutrition: The third distribution for the Nutrition Reinforcement Plan/NRP (“Plan National de Riposte”) was officially launched with US$ 123,696 worth of food assistance for 5,286 children aged 6 to 59 months and 11,261 Women of Reproductive Age, targeting the departments of Kédougou, Salémata, Saraya, and Bignona in response to food insecurity. Cooperating partners for this activity included the National Council for the Development of Nutrition (CNDN), PanAfricare, Caritas and WorldVision.
• WFP and Ministry of Health and Social Action entered an agreement through the Health Regional Direction of Kolda for the implementation of the third phase of the food assistance healthcare access project for vulnerable people living with HIV.
