In response to the recommendation of December 31, 2011, to declare the cessation clause for Rwandan refugees, and in an effort to ensure sustained return and reintegration opportunities for Rwandan returnees “the Sustainable Return and Reintegration of Rwandan Returnees was launched on the 29th November 2012”.

Through coordinated efforts, the Government of Rwanda through the overall coordination of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugee MIDIMAR and the One UN in Rwanda developed a three year Joint Program to address specific needs of Rwandan returnees.

THE PROJECT OBJECTIVES

It has as goal to support the reintegration of Rwandan returnees. It aims at ensuring the peaceful, safe and sustainable reintegration of men, women, boys and girls into their communities and their access to basic amenities and national documentation.

About the project

On ground activities started in March 2013. Different activities summarized in five pillars were conducted through phases (Phase I, Phase II, and phaseIII). Phasing was based on districts identified to have more returnees than others. The Projects operates in 13 Districts
