Heavy rains resulting in flooding and landslides have been affecting Rwanda over the weekend from 10 to 13 April, causing casualties and damage.
According to media, as at 14 April, two people were killed, several houses were destroyed, and 27 houses were damaged. The same source reports a total of 97,000 people affected. Roads were closed in Rwanda’s capital Kigali, in the centre of the country. The city mayor urged people to evacuate.
Over the next 72 hours, more rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is forecast across the country.
