Rwanda - Floods and landslides (media, NOAA-CPC) (ECHO Daily Flash of 15 April 2025)

  • Heavy rains resulting in flooding and landslides have been affecting Rwanda over the weekend from 10 to 13 April, causing casualties and damage.
  • According to media, as at 14 April, two people were killed, several houses were destroyed, and 27 houses were damaged. The same source reports a total of 97,000 people affected. Roads were closed in Rwanda’s capital Kigali, in the centre of the country. The city mayor urged people to evacuate.
  • Over the next 72 hours, more rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is forecast across the country.
