Igire Jyambere proactively fights HIV by decreasing the spread of infection and building resilience among orphans, vulnerable children and their households, as well as adolescent girls and young women.
This activity builds on previous investments made by USAID to effectively address and control the HIV epidemic. It places a strong focus on preventing and responding to violence among orphans and vulnerable children and at-risk adolescent girls and young women.
OBJECTIVES
The overall objective of this activity aligns with the goals of the Rwandan government and the U.S. government to close the remaining gaps and achieve the 95-95-95 targets, both at the national and district levels. To achieve this, Igire Wiyubake works on the following goals:

minimize the adverse effects of HIV on orphans, vulnerable children, adolescent girls, and young women,

address the underlying social, behavioral, and structural factors driving the spread of HIV,
-
enhance access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services,
-
enhance capacity of providers to deliver violence prevention and response services.
RESULTS EXPECTED IN 2023:
-
Targeted support to 37,314 persons in Muhanga and Nyarugenge Districts,
-
systematic linkages of 10,000 orphans, vulnerable children and their households with clinical and non-clinical services, including HIV and gender-based violence services,
-
increased access to education for 6,865 orphans and vulnerable children in primary, secondary and technical and vocational education, and training,
-
targeted support to 7,618 children aged 10 - 14 with preventive education to build their preventive knowledge and skills,
-
improved resilience for 18,349 individuals through the comprehensive package including economic strengthening interventions.

30,000 people reached with a specific family planning and/or reproductive health message funded by USAID outside of a health facility,
-
11,827 adolescent girls and young women aged 10 - 24 empowered to remain HIV negative in the DREAMS (Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored and Safe) program in Nyarugenge district.
