Russian Premier signs 2003 Chechen restoration programme

Alexander Arapov, press secretary to federal minister for Chechen affairs Stanislav Ilyasov, told journalists on Tuesday that Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov had signed a programme for the restoration of Chechnya for 2003.

According to him, in line with the confirmed programme to restore the economy and social sphere, this year 3.5 billion rubles (1 dollar equals about 31.5 rubles) will be allocated, which is one million fewer than last year's figure.

Efforts will focus on finishing the construction of previously started facilities in the socio-economic sphere, as well as starting new ones. (RIA Novosti )
