Islamic Relief has identified 8 refugee
camps along the Ingush border that need immediate humanitarian assistance.
The Chechnya Refugees Relief Programme has been initiated by Islamic Relief
to meet some of the basic needs of the refugees.
The programme, which aims to cover the
basic needs of some 24,000 Chechen refugees in Ingushetia, started on the
25th November through the distribution of 2950 food packs (55 tonnes).
A similar amount of non-food packs were also distributed. To facilitate
the daily supply of water to the camps 15 water barrels have been installed.
The programme will be stepped up over the coming weeks to include more food and non-food packs, blanket distribution, water supply, and the provision of mobile clinics.
