Draft of Chechen Constitution to undergo Council of Europe's examination

Very soon, a draft constitution of the Chechen republic will be sent for examination to the Council of Europe, Abdul-Khakim Sultygov, special envoy of the Russian president for human rights and freedoms in Chechnya, told reporters on Tuesday at the Rosiiskaya Gazeta editorial office.

The Council of Europe will check correspondence of the draft Chechen constitution to the world standards and may make constructive suggestions on certain articles.

Sultygov expressed his confidence that the elections in Chechnya would be "honest with no wrongdoings".

He also noted that the holding of a constitutional referendum in Chechnya is the key condition for arranging peaceful life there. (RIA Novosti)
