Heavy rainfall has continued to affect Romania since 28 May, causing floods and flash floods that have resulted in casualties and widespread damage.
According to media, as of 30 May, at least 309 people from 69 villages across four counties (Botosani, Brasov, Covasna, and Vrancea) have been preventively evacuated, 1,087 people are still isolated in Bacau and Neamt counties, 68 houses have been affected, and severe weather-related incidents have been recorded. A total of 16 counties and the municipality of Bucharest have been affected.
The Copernicus Emergency Management Service was activated (EMSR802) on 28 May to provide flood extent mapping and damage assessment, three maps have been produced.
Over the next 48 hours, more rainfall is expected over central-southern Romania.
