  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting eastern Romania since 28 May, causing floods and flash floods that have resulted in casualties and widespread damage.
  • According to media, as of 29 May, hundreds of people have been evacuated from Covasna and Brasov, a few people from Botosani counties in north-eastern Romania.
  • The Copernicus Emergency Management Service was activated (EMSR802) on 28 May to provide flood extent mapping and damage assessment.
  • Over the next 24 hours, more rainfall is still forecast over north-eastern Romania.
