"I am launching an appeal for solidarity to all Romanians because I believe this is a normal, suitable attitude in such a moment. First of all, I think it is necessary for Romanians to help each other", stated the Prime Minister at his arrival from the visit he paid today in Bacau county.
The Prime Minister Calin Popescu - Tariceanu launched an appeal for solidarity to all the Romanians in order to support the persons affected by the floods over the last period.
" I am launching an appeal for solidarity to all Romanians because I believe this is a normal, suitable attitude in such a moment. First of all, I think it is necessary that Romanians help each other", stated the Prime Minister at his arrival from the visit he paid today in Bacau county. He added that he will request, the General Secretary of the Government to open an account to gather donations for those affected by the floods.
" I hope the help that Romanians will provide, will be a consistent one, in order to soothe to a certain extent the sufferings and deprivation "',the Prime Minister added further.
The Prime Minister showed that the situation in Bacau area and especially on Trotus Valley is touching both because of people's sufferings and the volume of damage. The floods affected both the houses and the infrastructure of that area: roads, railways, water supply systems and pipelines. ''For example, the water supply pipeline of Comanesti simply vanished. The dimension of the damage on Trotus and Siret Valley is touching. According to our appreciations, the volume of the damage here exceeds the damage from Timis", further added the Prime Minister. Other particular problems are registered too in Cosmesti - Valea Siretului. In this moment, the water flow on Siret exceeds 4000 cubic meters per second, more than half the Danube flow.
The Head of the Executive underlined that both the central and local administration will do their duty further on, regardless of the political situation. "The committees for emergency situations have been activated; the members of the Government have been in the territory. Regardless of the political situation, the central and local administration are doing their duty", added the Prime Minister. He showed that the central authorities coordinate the actions that are taking place in the flooded areas, and the task to take the concrete measures according to situation falls on the responsibility of local authorities." We will rally the human forces - Army, and Gendarmerie units. The firemen are helping to get the water out of the flooded houses. There will be used the necessary equipment, and there will be allocated the financial resources. Clearly, there is the need of a massive intervention in order to help the affected localities recover and an exceptional effort is requested in this respect. "
Prime Minister Tariceanu showed that the local authorities took the measures suitable to the situations they were confronted with. 12 Army helicopters as well as well equipped motor boats that are performing the operations of moving the population from the areas threatened by floods, are operating in those areas. As the national road to Bacau is affected by floods, the Prime Minister Tariceanu requested the Minister of Defense that the military transport aircrafts should carry food in this area.
