South Korea - Wildfires, update (JRC GWIS, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 03 April 2025)

  • The death toll from the severe wildfires that burnt across southern regions of South Korea since 21 March is still increasing.
  • According to media, as of 2 April, the wildfires have burnt an area of 48,000 ha across 11 regions and resulted in 31 fatalities, 44 injured people, 3,307 displaced people, and at least 4,015 damaged houses.
  • Over the next 24 hours, according to the JRC Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS), the fire danger forecast is still high in the affected areas.
