Flooding Claims 60 Lives as Thousands Flee Homes

The torrential rains unleashed on Seoul and the provinces of Gyeonggi and Gangwon for three days from Tuesday have left 60 dead and 10 missing as of 11 p.m. on Thursday, according to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.

A total of 10,776 people from 5,193 households have fled their residences in fear of more flooding and landslides, including 1,638 people in 1,048 households in Seoul, and 8,962 people from 4,071 homes in Gyeonggi Province. / Jul. 29, 2011 10:23 KST
