Walang Gutom: Food e-Voucher Programme
• WFP and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reached 2,281 families under the pilot implementation of the Walang Gutom (No Hunger) 2027. Each family received US$55 (PHP 3,000) worth of food credits through digital vouchers which they can spend on nutritious food items from registered retailers. A total of 1,214 families in Tondo, Manila have completed the required nutrition education sessions under the programme.
• WFP conducted focus group discussions to assess the participants’ digital readiness or capability to adopt digital payment as an alternative to food evouchers in areas with limited market functionality. Insights on the use of mobile technology and digital payment gathered from participants across the five pilot areas will inform the strategies to improve digital readiness in remote locations
