Highlights
• In the immediate aftermath of each storm, WFP provided logistical support to the Government to ensure the timely delivery of family food packs and non-food items to over 1.6 million impacted people.
• Since November 2024, WFP and the Government have reached close to 151,500 people (30,300 families) in five priority provinces (Albay, Aurora, Cagayan, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes) with cash support. The assistance has so far provided PHP 261 million (US$4.6 million) and as a top up to beneficiaries of a flagship national social protection programme.
• WFP co-facilitated an after-action review with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on cash-based transfers during the 2024 typhoon response. Key lessons from the review informed WFP on how to adapt national social protection programmes to become increasingly shock responsive.
• Building on lessons learned from the response, WFP recently signed a partnership with Land Bank of the Philippines to diversify transfer options and more efficiently deliver cash assistance to people affected by shocks.
