Highlights

• UNICEF’s response for families affected by successive tropical cyclones, conducted with government and partners, continues to meet critical humanitarian needs for health, nutrition, child protection, education, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), and social protection.

• The ongoing response has now supported the screening of 1,530 children for acute malnutrition, the provision of healthcare services for 1,382 people, and mental and psychosocial support for 1,171 children.
These are in addition to the 8,759 vulnerable families given humanitarian cash assistance; 28,939 people provided with safe water; and 16,368 children supported with education supplies.

Funding overview and partnerships

UNICEF Philippines aims to raise US$4,374,000 to deliver critical humanitarian services to up to 61,000 beneficiaries, 22,0001 of whom are children. This is part of the Humanitarian Country Team’s broader appeal to raise US$42.4 million to support 535,000 people. UNICEF works with the Department of Health (DOH), the National Nutrition Council, the Department of Education (DepEd), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the National Child Protection Working Group and their regional counterparts to deliver these services. Active and forthcoming partnerships with Action Against Hunger, Plan International Pilipinas, Catholic Relief Services, ACTED, World Vision, Humanity and Inclusion, and Miriam College Foundation will support broader humanitarian response and monitoring.

UNICEF extends sincere thanks to the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund and the Government of the United Kingdom for their generous and crucial support. The funding UNICEF received from UNICEF Thematic Funds and private sector donors in the Philippines has also enhanced response efforts in affected regions.
