Highlights
- A total of 5,776 typhoon-affected families in Catanduanes received cash assistance through UNICEF’s partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Disbursed in December and January, the cash grants enabled families to flexibly address their needs post-disaster. The families shared during post-distribution monitoring surveys that they used the grants on food, their children’s education, medicines and house repairs. They confirmed that they received the correct amounts and that they were satisfied with the process.
- UNICEF also continues to help four municipalities in Catanduanes strengthen child protection and psychosocial support systems in disaster‑affected communities. With its civil society partner, it completed train-the-trainer sessions on psychosocial first aid. Efforts to help the municipal local government units strengthen local referral systems and ensure continuity of care are underway.
