Typhoon Nesat Situation Report No. 1

I. HIGHLIGHTS/KEY PRIORITIES

Typhoon Nesat, known locally as Pedring, made landfall in Aurora and Isabela provinces in northeastern Philippines on 27 September. It is forecasted to continue to cross the country and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by the afternoon of 28 September.

The Government has reported that more than 64,400 people have been affected by the typhoon. The Government is assisting 19,400 people, the majority of whom are in 63 evacuation centers.

During a high-level government meeting on 27 September, Executive Secretary Ochoa, heading the Office of the President, directed government agencies to immediately undertake recovery and rehabilitation activities in the affected areas.

The Government is leading the response and has not requested international aid so far.
