  • Taal Volcano may erupt in the coming days as seismic activity suggests magma is flowing into the volcano. There is a 4.3-mile-wide (7km) exclusion zone around the volcano and return to some areas was possible except to the districts of Agoncillo, Laurel, Balete, Talisai and San Nicolas, located along the shore of the Lake Taal. An Alert Level 3 is in effect signalling a possible eruption within weeks.

  • As of 30 January, 19,131 families / 66,989 people are sheltered in 415 evacuation centres, while 66,538 families/225,389 people are displaced in other areas. A total of 124,764 families/464,728 persons are affected.

  • €750,000 in emergency humanitarian funding has been released by DG ECHO to assist those affected.
