- On 9 December at 7.03 UTC, Kanlaon volcano, located on Negros Island, increased its activity with an explosion that produced a plume 3 km high above the summit of the crater and pyroclastic flows descended the slopes on the southeastern flanks of the volcano.
- According to the national authorities, more than 6,500 have been displaced, most of them have been evacuated in 13 evacuation centres located in the Western and Central Visayas region.
- As of 10 December, at 2.00 UTC, the alert level was raised from 2 (increasing unrest) to 3 (magmatic unrest). All local government units are advised to evacuate people living in the 6 km radius from the summit of the volcano.
