Background
The presence of the low pressure area east of Mindanao and Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) triggered flooding and landslides in CARAGA provinces, Misamis Oriental, South Cotabato, Compostela Valley, South Cotabato, Boholand Southern Leyte.

PAGASA 24 Hr: Weather Forecast

At 2:00 p.m. today low pressure area was estimated at 1750 kms east of Southern Mindanao (6.4ºN 142.0 ºE).Intertropicalconvergence zone (ITCZ) affecting Visayas and Mindanao including Palawan.

Visayas and Mindanao including Palawan will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over Southern Mindanao. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Eastern Visayas and the coastal waters of these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the northeast and east with slight to moderate seas.

Relief Operations

23,000 lbs. of assorted relief goods, medical supplies and food packages arrived inTaclobanand are en route to Maasin.

500 grocery packs were donated by AFP Ladies Club/ Brgy Camp Aguinaldofor the landslide evacuees and families of the victims.

Search and Rescue (SAR) Operations

The 11 volunteer miner-rescuers from the Philippine Mines Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) have proceeded to Maasin to assist in the ongoing search and retrieval operations in Liloan and San Ricardo.

Surigao CDCC SART is conducting retrieval ops with the engineering Unit, PNRC volunteers and RECONS Storm Radio in Surigao City.

Damage and Needs Assessment

Conduct of damage and needs assessment in the disaster-stricken areas are ongoing as localDCCs concerned are hampered by inclement weather in completing their assessments.
