PHILIPPINES - TYPHOON OYANG
UNDRO INFORMATION REPORT NO. 1
7 OCTOBER 1986

1. UNDRO/UNDP REPRESENTATIVE REPORTS TYPHOON OYANG HIT THE PHILIPPINES AT 0400 AM ON 6 OCT 1986.

2. CASUALTIES: 2 DEAD, 1 INJURED, 8 MISSING.

3. 11,343 FAMILIES OR 69,375 PERSONS AFFECTED IN DIFFERENT CITIES AND MUNICIPALITIES IN METRO MANILA. OUT OF THESE 9,365 FAMILIES OR 59,785 PERSONS HAD BEEN EVACUATED TO 67 EVACUATION CENTRES.

4. 14 HOUSES WERE TOTALLY DESTROYED IN MUNTINLUPA, METRO MANILA. IN BULACAN - RICE FIELDS ARE UNDER WATER. NO COST OF DAMAGES HAVE BEEN REPORTED YET.

5. GOVERNMENT HAS NOT APPEALED FOR INTERNATIONAL ASSISTANCE.

UNDRO/UNDP REPRESENTATIVE REPORTS FOLLOWING UPDATE:

1. CASUALTIES: 11 DEAD, 26 INJURED, 11 MISSING.

2. AFFECTED AND EVACUATED 14,115 FAMILIES OR 82,529 PERSONS IN METRO MANILA.

3. ESTIMATED COST OF DAMAGES TO ROADS, BRIDGES AND PUBLIC WORKS APPROX US DLRS 1,200,000.

4. GOVERNMENT HAS NOT REQUESTED INTERNATIONAL ASSISTANCE.
