Highlights

· Across affected areas, local markets are returning to normal, and Government and humanitarian partners are expanding cash-transfer programmes to give local communities better access to food and other essential items.

· A pilot project in Capiz Province is salvaging fallen coconut trees and providing timber for Shelter Cluster partners.

· Shelter continues to be a major concern across affected areas, hampered by a serious funding shortage.

· Priorities are shifting towards self-recovery support, i.e. providing families with the tools, building-and-roofing materials and know-how to repair their homes.

· The current level of funding has allowed for the distribution of self-recovery shelter kits for 175,000 people (35,000 households), but this is less than 3 per cent of the target.

· The Education Cluster is updating the number of reopened schools and registered students.
