Philippines: Typhoon Hagupit Situation Report No. 2 (as of 7 December 2014)



  • Typhoon Hagupit makes first landfall in Dolores municipality, Eastern Samar province on 5 December with maximum sustained winds of 175 km/h and gusts of up to 210 km/h.

  • Initial reports indicate less damage than expected in accessible areas affected by the typhoon; situation in isolated municipalities is still unclear.

  • Hagupit is expected to make multiple landfalls in the province of Romblon on 7 December.

  • Some 717,000 people were pre-emptively evacuated by the Government. To date, there are no validated casualties reported.
