Tropical Cyclone (TC) Ma-On, known in the Philippines as Florita, has affected 4,646 people or 1,344 families as of 24 August, a day after it has made landfall in the province of Isabela, Cagayan Valley region. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), 60 barangays have been hit mostly in the regions of Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). Abra province in CAR was devastated by a magnitude 7 earthquake only last month. The President has ordered suspension of work in government offices today in several provinces in Luzon and Metro Manila.

TC Ma-On left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on 24 August although eleven areas in northern Luzon remain under TC Wind Signal No 1 (gusts reaching strong breeze to gale-force strength may still be experienced in the next 24 hours).

DG ECHO Manila continues to monitor the situation, especially of the flooded areas in northern Luzon that have been recently affected by the earthquake and which have experienced non-stop rain in the last two days.
