Typhoon DOKSURI is moving towards south-eastern China after making landfall twice in the northern Philippines, killing five people, affecting more than 328,000 and displacing about 27,000 people. On 27 July at 3.00 UTC, its centre was located over the sea approximately 175 km south-west of Hengchun City, far southern Taiwan, and approximately 400 km south-east of the Zhangzhou City area, south-west Fujian Province, China, with maximum sustained winds of 139 km/h and gusts of up to 215 km/h.

China's national observatory has issued a red alert for Typhoon Doksuri, the most severe warning in its four-tier warning system, with gale-force winds expected. Taiwan's weather bureau issued wind and rain warnings. Over 5,700 people have been evacuated from flood- and landslide-prone areas in Taiwan's south and east. Fujian, eastern Guangdong, and Zhejiang coastal areas, as well as some parts of Taiwan, expect to see heavy downpours of 250 to 400 mm.
