A new tropical cyclone named DOKSURI (termed "Egay" in the Philippines) formed over the Philippines Sea on 21 July and started moving north-west toward the Luzon Strait. On 24 July at 0.00 UTC, its centre was located over the sea approximately 580 km south-east of the far northern Luzon Island, northern Philippines, with maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h (typhoon).

Rainfall already caused by DOKSURI over the Luzon Island resulted in approximately 1,200 displaced people across the area.

DOKSURI is forecast to continue northwestward strenghtening and it is expected to pass over the Luzon Strait very close to northern Luzon on 25 July in the afternoon, with maximum sustained winds up to 215 km/h.

Over the next 72 hours, very heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surges are forecast over the central and northern Philippines and the whole Taiwan.
