1, Background

- Two (2) earthquake incidents both of tectonic origin occurred on September 18 and 19, 2009 to wit:

7:53 PM, 18 September 2009 - 06.44=B0N, 124.63=B0E-26 kms S 8=B0 E of Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.

Depth of focus - 012 km (Shallow) with magnitude at 5.6 Ms and with the following intensities

Intensity IV - Tacurong City and Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, Koronadal City and Polomolok, South Cotabato

Intensity III - General Santos City, Cotabato City, Digos City, Davao City and Kabakan, North Cotabato

Intensity II - Matan-ao, Davao del Sur and Kidapawan City

9:41 AM, 19 September 2009 - 06.47=B0N, 124.84=B0E-8 kms S 5=B0 W of Koronadal (South Cotabato)

Depth of focus - 015 km (Shallow) with magnitude at 5.3 Ms and with the following intensities:

Intensity IV - Koronadal, South Cotabato

Intensity III - General Santos City; Polomolok, South Cotabato

3. Actions Taken

- NDCC-OPCEN coordinated with OCD Regional Centers XI and XII to monitor any possible effects particularly in areas with reported intensities

- OCDRC XII with PDCC South Cotabato and PNP Norala conducted damage assessment

- On-going damage assessment by the MDCCs with the PNP in the above-mentioned areas

- Families whose houses were totally damaged are presently staying with their relatives
